The Department of Orthopaedics is an academic department within the Faculty of post-graduation at Lugansk Statte Medical University in Lugansk. We are committed to education and research. We also provide general and specialty orthopaedic surgery and rehabilitation clinical services through the LSMU Hospital and Clinics.
The Academic Department of Orthopaedic Surgery continues to expand, and now has several Research Registrars plus affiliated pre and post-doctoral Research Assistants, technical and secretarial staff. The Department is committed to academic excellence, and well established programmes in basic and clinical sciences are in place. The aims of the Department are to provide undergraduate and postgraduate training in Orthopaedic Surgery and to perform research related to Orthopaedics.
Close ties exist between the academic and service departments. All medically qualified academic staff hold honorary service contracts and undertake service responsibilities. The Department serves a population of approximately 650,000 and acts as a referral centre for the Lugansk.
There are a full range of fracture, general elective, specialist and children's orthopaedic clinics. The Department provides an opportunity to gain a well-rounded education and surgical training in the fundamentals of the science and the art of orthopaedic and trauma surgery. It offers a well structured program to address the areas of sub-specialty including, arthroplasty, oncology, trauma, hand, spine, foot and ankle and pediatrics.
Teaching:
- Orthopedics and traumatology - 5th year (medicine)
- Postgraduate training in orthopedics and traumatology
- Practical examinations in orthopedics and traumatology
- Courses within the specialization in orthopedics and traumatology, general surgery, rheumatology and family medicine.
Candidates for admission to a course of study leading to the Degree of Master of Orthopaedic Surgery or General Orthopedic must have obtained the Degrees of MBBS, MB ChB, MD or an equivalent qualification.
The post graduate course is offered in the medium of English and Russian language. The duration of the course is 2 years. The Ph. D. degree is also available for the duration of 3 year after the Post Graduation.
Minimum Eligibility for admission : MBBS, MB ChB or MD.
