The department of pediatrics was founded in the year of 1991.

The pediatrics doctor must be well-educated, learned specialist with deep knowledge of biological, medical and special sciences, featured with tactful, sympathetic attitude to children.

Scientific, pedagogical and treatment activities of professors E.V.Arcchakova, B.A.Beskaravayny, A.L.Resnikova and others is associated with the pediatrics department.

The department workers are successfully solving actual scientific problems in order to improve the medical treatment, effectively assisting the work of the practical health care at the clinical bases.

The department purposeful work on rebuilding and perfecting the training process. The material basis of the department is in progress: in 1989 a new regional clinical hospital for children was put into operation, on the basis of it the department of pediatrics and infant surgery were formed.

As early as in the first year of studies the students learn, along with general biological disciplines, the foundations of their future specialties, training on then during the whole term of education.

Intensive studies that the pediatrics students will aloe them to become highly qualified specialists. Especially true is it for those who take, besides standard compulsory classes, part in the work of the students scientific society, gaining research skills.

In the final year of the medical course the students can choose, referring to the needs of practical health care, a further specialization : that of pediatrics doctor, infant surgeon, anaesthesiologist / reanimatologist, otolaryngologist, opthamologist, psychiatrist.

At the end of the education term every student is interviewed by the state board which appoints him or her to the future employment.

Having passed the state examinations, the graduates with the degree of pediatrics doctors go to their destinations and for one year have the internal practice meant to develop and substantiate the graduates knowledge and experience in the specialty chosen.

The pediatrists who have graduated from this department work successfully in various areas of our country. Their noble work serves to fulfill important social tasks, protecting the health of the youngest citizens of the country.
